Day 8--Drove for 7 hours and then did 30 minutes Zumba with my mom and sister (then company showed up so we stopped).

Day 9--Went to the Y and managed 30 minutes deep water aerobics before getting kicked out for bad weather. Walked around the track a few times to dry off before leaving.

My body was reacting to the healthy diet and more active lifestyle...in multiple ways. So, I did some low weight, high reps for my arms and some ab work.

AM--ran 2 miles
All day at Cub Scout Camp working on the canoe crew. This translated into at least 4 solid hours of paddling. Anyway, I still have six months to reach my goal of running a full marathon this year. To make this a reality I need to get more disciplined and drop the 20 pounds I've gained since my first 1/2 marathon. For June my goal is to run twice a day four days a week. 2  miles in the morning, 2 miles at night.

Last week was just a test run and I did the video 4 out of the 5 planned days. Not bad.

My training was lack-luster at best, but I still pulled off a 1/2 marathon with my average time of 2:35

Before driving down to Myrtle Beach, Nathan and I only ran six miles at one time. Usually we work up to ten before the race, but we were slackers. I'm sort of ashamed by that fact, but it is what it is. We did what we could and then decided to just go and enjoy the run.

Last week we traveled and the training ground to a halt. Well, not really because the four days before we started traveling we had company. Who liked to take us out to eat every night.

On Saturday, hubby and I went out for our 6 mile run. It was cold. The wind was biting. We didn't want to do it. But we did.

The holidays are officially over and it's time to buckle down and get back on track. I've found that I eat better when I'm running because I don't want to waste all that effort. I also eat better when I keep track of what I'm eating. However, it's too late to fix it when I write everything down at night after eating it.

Friday I convinced myself it was ok to skip my run and spend it with the family because I was doing a long run on Saturday. Someone mentioned how much they respected me and Nathan for starting from scratch every year to train for our half marathon. It was a compliment, but it has a flip side. Today I went for a run. 3.6 miles in the cold. I dodged snow piles and ice, and I hurt all over. The "timid" running hurt so much more than running like I knew my feet would grip the ground. My hips ached and I walked a lot to keep from falling. My ankles and calves were stiff from the cold and lack of exercise the last few weeks.

A recipe. For some reason whenever I think of this dish I hear "parent and child" in the back of my head. Saturday--10 miles, no stopping to walk in 1:49:28. Consistent 11 minute miles makes me happy. Monday I ran 3.5 miles in the morning and then another 2 with Kiah in the evening. 
Tuesday--nothing
Wednesday--3.5 miles with Kiah. She did really good and only stopped to walk for a very short time twice.
The rest of the week--zilch, nada, oh, boy are we in trouble!

I only ran twice, but both runs were very good. 

Wednesday I ran 4.5 miles with my hubby. We ran slow and held a conversation the whole way, which was wonderful. My breathing never became labored and my body never hurt. There is something to be said about going slow! We ran without music and it was nice to just talk with my best friend.

I don't know why, it just was. After returning home from TN and the wedding I decided that I had to get moving again. Why? Lots of reasons.1. Running helps me deal with stress (and I have a lot of stress right now)2. When I run I have more patience with my children who tend to act out the most when I have a lot of other stress in my life.
